Greatest Person: A Consultation with Dr. Bear [VIDEO]
Cohen Children's Medical Center volunteer brings smiles to faces of young patients.
Lenny Mitchko has been volunteering at the Cohen Children’s Medical Center for more than 5 years. After suffering a spinal injury, Mitchko was encouraged by his wife to volunteer at North Shore LIJ.
He started volunteering a few days a week and is now volunteering five days a week and hopes to do more.
Mitchko isn’t the only volunteer. He is accompanied by a stuffed animal – a black bear to be precise – known to the children as “Dr. Bear.”
