Martins Concludes Food Drive

Over 1,000 pounds of food collected for Long Island communities.

New York State , R-Mineola concluded he on Tuesday, putting a total of four boxes on display at the Westbury Village Hall.

The focus of the drive with Long Island Cares was for the Harry Chapin Food , which is dedicated to providing food for those in need with the assistance of Long Island’s communities.

Numerous villages from across the Seventh Senatorial District contributed to the effort, including Williston Park, Floral Park, Westbury, Plandome Heights and North Hills among others. Held during the month of August, receptacles were placed in the lobbies of each of the village halls.

In total the drive, which was held during the month of August, collected over 1,000 pounds of donated food items.

Contributions from the Mineola community amounted to two of the large 3-ft. boxes wheeled out of the box truck used to transport the items.
