Scouts, Volunteers Clean Up New Hyde Park Drain

On Sunday, Boy Scout Troop 10 of Great Neck and Troop 678 of Floral Park  along with their leaders joined community members to clean a long neglected storm drain in New Hyde Park.

More than 40 volunteers spent over 125 hours cleaning and collecting garbage behind Dalton Funeral Home in New Hyde Park.

Together, they filled more than 100 bags of garbage and recyclables, including a few crushed shopping carts, an untold number of various types of balls , lawn furniture, broken pieces of pipes, a tire, hoses and enough bricks to build a small wall.
