Car Accidents Mar Memorial Day Weekend in New Hyde Park

Overturned car on Hillside Boulevard and wrong turn at LIRR Station Sunday night.

A pair of car accidents marred Memorial Day weekend in New Hyde Park Sunday night, causing the halting of traffic on both Hillside Avenue and on the Long Island Rail Road.

At about 10:11 p.m. a car overturned at Hillside Avenue and Kamda Boulevard and struck two parked cars on the north side of the roadway. An injured person was extracted from the car by the New Hyde Park Fire Department and transported to North Shore University Hospital via a Nassau County Police ambulance. The exact condition of the driver is unknown.

Meanwhile, at the New Hyde Park LIRR station, a driver had taken a wrong turn onto the rail road tracks causing all train traffic to be stopped. MTA Police were able to remove the car from the tracks and cleared the scene at about 11:35 p.m. No injuries were reported at the scene.
